Town hall BSC’s financial problems postponed until Tuesday
State Rep. Juandalynn Givan of Birmingham has postponed a town hall meeting she had scheduled for tonight on the financial problems of Birmingham-Southern College, which is in her legislative district.
Because of the threat of severe weather, Givan postponed the meeting until Tuesday at 6 p.m.
The meeting will still be held at A.H. Parker High School, 400 Reverend Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd. The meeting is open to the public, including alumni, faculty, staff, and other concerned citizens.
The topic of discussion is the potential closing of Birmingham-Southern. The college is seeking $30 million from the Alabama Legislature, $5 million from the city of Birmingham, and $2.5 million from the Jefferson County Commission to help remain open.
