Tow truck crashes into Hueytown home; driver killed
A tow truck driver was killed early Wednesday when he crashed into a Hueytown home.
Hueytown police and firefighters were dispatched at 3:20 a.m. to a report of a wreck in the 200 block of Forest Road.
Police Lt. Michael Shupe said they arrived to find the tow truck had left the roadway and struck a house.
The driver was pronounced dead on the scene. His name has not yet been released.
Authorities said the driver was returning to the company’s lot after a service call. He was hauling a pickup truck.
The residents were home at the time but were not injured.
The fatality is being investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office accident reconstruction team with assistance from Hueytown police.
“Our thought and prayers are with the family of the tow truck driver,’’ Shupe said.
