Tornadoes hit Chilton, Dallas counties: Trees downed, power out across parts of Alabama
Tornadoes were responsible for damage overnight in parts of Chilton and Dallas counties, according to the Birmingham office of the National Weather Service.
In Dallas County, tees were reported down near Dallas County High School due to a tornado that struck late Tuesday night and multiple trees were uprooted and blocked County Road 26 near Plantersville.
Multiple buildings were reportedly damaged along County Road 16 near Pools Crossroads by a tornado that hit Chilton County. A tornado also downed trees and powerlines near Plecher and Cooper in Chilton County, the weather service reported.
Shortly after 5 a.m., Alabama Power reported about 139 active outages affecting more than 4,600 customers.
Storms were expected to clear out on Wednesday, and cooler and drier conditions are expected for the rest of the week.
