Tornado confirmed in Alabama from Tuesday storms
Tuesday’s round of rain and storms also produced at least one tornado.
The National Weather Service in Mobile said a preliminary storm survey confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down on Tuesday in Covington County just southeast of Andalusia, causing some damage but no injuries.
The weather service said the tornado touched down at 12:06 a.m. CST Tuesday near the Babbie community and peaked with winds of 80 mph.
It was on the ground for 0.3 miles and was 20 yards wide.
The weather service said the tornado touched down at the intersection of Two Boys Lane and Whatley Road. It damaged a home near Cantaline Bridge Road, ripping off an awning as well as a carport.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham issued a tornado warning for another storm in Hale County on Tuesday, but said no damage was found in the area.
According to information from the weather service the Covington County storm should rank as tornado No. 42 in 2024 — and the first one since June.
