Tornado confirmed from latest in series of Alabama storms

The National Weather Service in Mobile said an EF-0 tornado touched down in central Mobile County on Thursday morning.

The Mobile County storm was the latest in a long line of severe storms that have rolled across Alabama over the past week.

The weather service said the Mobile County tornado had top winds of 75 mph.

It had a path length of 2.5 miles and was 100 yards wide at its peak.

There were no injuries.

The weather service storm survey team said the tornado first touched down just west of Orchard Drive and north of Howells Ferry Road. It lifted about 2.5 miles later near University Avenue.

The tornado knocked down numerous tree branches, the weather service said, and a few of those fell on homes.

National Weather Service storm surveys aren’t done for the week. The weather service in Huntsville said it plans to head to Morgan County Friday to look at damage in the Valhermoso Springs/Laceys Spring area following a storm on Tuesday.
