Tornado causes damage, injuries in east Montgomery

According to the Montgomery City/County EMA, a tornado warning was issued at 3:14 a.m. when radar identified a tornado in east Montgomery.

It was reported at or near Taylor Road and moving east toward Waugh.

Montgomery police were dispatched to multiple locations with reports of damage.

One call reported serious injuries to a person who was outside during the storm in the Gloucester Mews neighborhood.

Another minor injury was reported in Gloucester Mews, which is near the East Chase shopping center.

Other reports included vehicles on their sides, roofs damaged, and trees and power lines down in the Halcyon Boulevard and Eastwood Glen/Bell Road areas, and at Buddy Watson Park on Taylor Road.

Montgomery city officials have set up a command center to respond and assess the damage.
