Top team extends lead in coaches poll after Week 6
Alabama narrowly beat Texas A&M on Saturday night. The Crimson Tide narrowly extended its lead in the coaches poll over Georgia on Sunday morning.
Nick Saban and co. earned 35 first-place votes, up one from last week compared to the Bulldogs’ 18. The Tide won a battle of backup quarterbacks over the Aggies, 24-20. While Georgia stomped Auburn, 42-10.
Ohio State, Clemson and Michigan continued to round out the top five. The Buckeyes trounced Michigan State, 49-20, and again earned more top spots on some ballots.
Alabama overtook Georgia in both the coaches poll and Associated Press Top 25 last week. Its next opponent, Tennessee, beat previously-ranked LSU, 40-13, on the road and remained at No. 8.
