Top 10 Alabama HS football team to forfeit 4 wins this year

Class 1A No. 6 Coosa Christian will forfeit all four of its victories so far this year for a violation of the transfer rule.

According to an Alabama High School Athletic Association release, the Conquerors most forfeit all games and will be fined for playing “some” ineligible players in violation of the AHSAA’s transfer rule.

The forfeits include previous wins over Spring Garden (21-6), Gaylesville (49-0), Decatur Heritage (48-0) and Valley Head (35-0). Coosa lost to Geraldine 26-0 in the season opener.

The decision will drop Coosa to 0-5 overall and 0-3 in Region 7 play. The Conquerors went 9-5 in 2022 and reached the Class 1A semifinals before losing at Pickens County, 44-40.

The Conquerors were scheduled to play Heritage Academy, Miss., tonight, but that game was canceled Thursday after Heritage student died in a car accident. They are scheduled to be idle on Oct. 6 and host Cedar Bluff in Region 7 play on Oct. 13.

Coosa head coach Mark Obryant could not comment on the issue Friday night.
