Tom Cruise posts message to fans of ‘Mission Impossible:’ ‘One for the history books’

Tom Cruise posted a message to “Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning” fans Tuesday, thanking them for the Memorial Day weekend, which he said “was one for the history books.”

The last in the “Mission” franchise banked a franchise-best domestically, internationally and globally, taking in $204 million.

The worldwide $204 million debut is a new record for the franchise’s biggest worldwide launch.

“Congratulations and thank you to every filmmaker, every artist, every crew member, and every single person who works at the studios,” Cruise posted. “To every theater and every employee who helps bring these stories to audiences, thank you.

“To every one that works at Paramount Pictures and Skydance, thank you for your many years of partnerships and unwavering support.

“And most of all, thank you to audiences everywhere – for whom we all serve and for whom we all love to entertain.”

“Mission Impossible” finished second at the box office behind Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” amassed $341.7 million.
