A toddler was fatally struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Crenshaw County.

The crash happened at 4:05 p.m. on Hawkins Road, about two miles south of Dozier, said Senior state Trooper Kendra McKinney.

Authorities said the 1-year-old was a pedestrian that was struck by a 2014 Ford Escape. The child was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

No other details were released. Troopers do not release the names of juvenile victims.
