Tipoff times, TV networks set for Auburn basketball’s West Coast trip

Auburn’s West Coast two-step is officially set.

The program announced this week the tipoff times and TV networks for its two-game West Coast road trip in December in which Bruce Pearl’s team will travel to USC and Washington for a pair of major nonconference matchups.

Auburn will take on USC in Los Angeles on Dec. 18, with tipoff set for 4:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. Three days later, the Tigers travel to Seattle to take on Washington on Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. CT. That matchup will air on the Pac-12 Network.

The West Coast swing makes up two of three Power 5 road game on Auburn’s nonconference slate this season. Auburn will also travel to Morgantown, W. Va., on Jan. 28 to take on West Virginia in the Big 12/SEC Challenge during a weekend reprieve from conference play.

“At USC, at Washington, at West Virginia — you tell me one school in the league that plays three Power 5 road games,” Pearl said last month. “…We’ve got a real challenging schedule, and a lot of pieces to fit in. But, I mean, obviously, it’s gonna get us prepared and, you know, get us ready.”

Those three road games certainly highlight Auburn’s nonconference schedule for the 2022-23 season, but they won’t be the only noteworthy matchups. Auburn will face Memphis in Atlanta on Dec. 10 as part of the Holiday Hoopsgiving event at State Farm Arena. It will also host Saint Louis at Neville Arena on Nov. 27 for a rare Sunday home game the day after the Iron Bowl.

The start of the upcoming season is less than five weeks away, with Auburn opening the year at home against George Mason on Nov. 7.
