Timeline of sexual harassment investigation involving Michigan State coach Mel Tucker
A little more than two years ago, sexual assault survivor and activist Brenda Tracy visited Michigan State’s campus and met Mel Tucker as part of her work educating athletes about sexual misconduct.
Now, a chain of events leading from that meeting has put Tucker’s future at Michigan State in question, as he faces an allegation that he sexually harassed Tracy, according to a report from USA Today.

August 2021
Tucker and Tracy meet for the first time as she visits campus to deliver a speech to the Michigan State football team during its fall training camp for the 2022 season.
April 16, 2022
Tracy visits Michigan State’s campus for a second time and serves as honorary captain during the Spartans’ spring game after she and Tucker developed a friendship following her initial visit.
April 28, 2022
Tucker and Tracy hold a phone conversation during which Tracy later claims Tucker made sexually suggestive comments to her and masturbates. Tucker later characterized the conversation as consensual phone sex.
December 2022
Tracy files a complaint with Michigan State’s Title IX office alleging that Tucker sexually harassed her during the April phone call.
