Tight end posts Alabama’s second-best bench-press showing in NFL Combine history
Tight end CJ Dippre posted the second-most bench-press reps by an Alabama player at the NFL Scouting Combine this century on Saturday.
Dippre pressed the 225-pound bar 32 times in Indianapolis.
The only Alabama player who has tested better in the bench press than Dippre at the NFL Scouting Combine since 2000 is guard Evan Mathis. The former Homewood High School standout performed 35 reps in 2005 before a 12-year NFL career that included first-team All-Pro recognition in 2013 with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Through the first two days of bench-press testing, which has included the combine’s defensive players and tight ends, Dippre is tied for the most reps at the station. Oklahoma defensive end Ethan Downs had 32 reps on Friday.
The only other Alabama players who have reached 30 repetitions in bench-press testing at the NFL Scouting Combine in this century are defensive tackles Cornelius Griffin in 2000 and Jesse Williams in 2013.
In Saturday’s testing, Alabama’s Robbie Ouzts had the second-most reps among the tight ends with 26. No other tight ends who tested had more than 22 reps.
