Tiger Woods withdraws from Genesis Invitational in 2nd round

Tiger Woods’ golf comeback hit another snag on Friday, as he withdrew from the Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles due to illness.

The 48-year-old Woods has been looking to play an expanded schedule this year after participating in just three PGA sanctioned events in 2023 due to back and leg injuries. He shot an even-par 72 in Thursday’s opening round at Riviera, but pulled out Friday after completing just six holes.

Woods completed just one of the three tournaments he played in in 2023, the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas in early December. He withdrew from the Masters last April during the third round due to foot pain and then missed the cut at the British Open in July.

The 15-time Major champion last won on the PGA Tour at the Masters in 2019. In January, he announced that his highly lucrative endorsement deal with Nike had ended after 27 years.
