With the resignation of Zach Hood, director of the Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency, earlier this month, three top officials in Baldwin County have left their positions in the last two months.

Joey Nunnally, the former county engineer, and Ron Cink, who served as county administrator and county budget director, both left in May to pursue other opportunities. Nunnally now works at Austal and Cink is the county administrator for Escambia County, Ala.

The departures—and recent changes to Baldwin County’s government structure—have rocked the fastest-growing county in Alabama. But Baldwin County Commission Chair Skip Gruber says that county operations are still running smoothly.

“We’re not lacking leadership in those areas,” Gruber said. “And we’re going to get help to fill those jobs that were voided.”

In a letter to the commission last week, Hood did not give a direct reason for his departure. Tom Tyler, deputy EMA director, is the interim EMA director in his place.
