Three Huntsville area counties rank in top 15 in state in number of bridges. What shape are they in?
Madison, Limestone and Morgan counties rank in the top 15 in Alabama in the number of bridges they have on their roadways.
Some are obvious, the Interstate 65 bridge that crosses the Tennessee River and connects Limestone and Morgan counties near some of the area’s top manufacturers, the Hudson Memorial Bridge in Decatur on U.S. 231 and the Clement Clay Bridge on U.S. 231 that also cross the Tennessee River are among the most traveled with commuter traffic to major employers such as Redstone Arsenal and the advance manufacturers.
Others are smaller bridges in rural areas. What kind of shape are they in?

In Madison County, which ranks second in the state with 702 bridges (4.3% of the state’s bridges), 1.9% are considered in poor condition, according to Stacker, which ranked the counties in Alabama with the most bridges, using analysis from Truckinfo.net.
