Three dessert recipes for your next game day spread

It has been my experience that when planning for a football-watching party or a tailgating gala, one facet of the party is oftentimes neglected.

Sure, we spend a lot of time and effort into the main course and the appetizers; we do so because it is easy and that’s what most people enjoy most about a gameday smorgasbord.

But we do so at the expense of what I think is one of the more vital aspects of the gridiron party – dessert. And that, gentle readers, is a shame.

Frankly I’m not sure why tailgaters give short shrift to the part of the meal that comes after the main course has been served. Win or lose, when the meal is done most folks want to cap things off with a taste of something sweet.

It doesn’t need to be anything elaborate or experimental. In fact, it’s been my experience that such occasions call for tried-and-true nibbles that are familiar and filling. This is one wheel that doesn’t need re-inventing.

But familiar doesn’t have to be boring. Far from it. With a little work prior to the game you can make a sweet feast that everyone will enjoy.
