Threat sent to Alabama school meant for one in Texas, authorities say
A social media threat received by an Alabama school this morning was apparently sent to the wrong school in the wrong state.
Scottsboro City Schools announced this morning that a staff member at Collins Intermediate School received a Facebook message indicating a threat towards the school.
The system said in a statement that the threat was turned over to Scottsboro police, which planned to have a “greater presence” on all Scottsboro campuses.
According to WHNT, authorities determined the threat was initiated from Corsicana, Texas, where the local school distract also has a Collins Intermediate School.
The Texas school notified parents today that a threat had been made on social media overnight, with the campus cleared. Classes were scheduled to begin on time today, with additional security to be on campus today.
