Thompson 2025 safety Anquon Fegans decommits from USC
Thompson defensive back Anquon Fegans – one of the top juniors in the state of Alabama – has decommitted from USC.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Fegans committed to the Trojans in May shortly after his brother Tre’Quon announced he was transferring from Alabama to USC. The 4-star prospect confirmed his decision to decommit to AL.com.
Fegans’ father, Antwon Sr., told 247 Sports that Anquon wanted to open the process back up and explore his options. Anquon announced on social media Thursday he had received an offer from Clemson.
Fegans is the No. 5-ranked junior in Alabama, according to the 247 composite rankings, behind Saraland WR Ryan Williams, Parker DB Na’eem Offord, Vigor OT Micah DeBose and Charles Henderson EDGE Zion Grady.
Fegans’ numerous other offers include Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Florida, Florida State and Georgia.
He helped Thompson to its fourth straight Class 7A state title in 2022, finishing with nine interceptions, including three for touchdowns, and 11 pass breakups. He was a first team ASWA All-State selection and a finalist for Class 7A Back of the Year.
Thompson defensive coordinator Shawn Defoor has said it would be hard to find a better safety in the nation than Fegans.
“He’s rangy, he’s physical,” Defoor said. “He has elite speed, can cover ground very well. He can play corner, safety, star. He’s very athletic, very gifted.”
Fegans told AL.com he wasn’t pinpointing any specific schools at this point, that he intended to explore his options.
