Home sales in Huntsville and Madison County cooled slightly in June but remained above last year’s total for the second straight month.

Meanwhile, sales in Decatur and Athens declined both compared with May and with June 2023 for the first time this year, according to new ValleyMLS data. But for the first time, Athens led the Tennessee Valley in average home price.

“I expect Athens to continue to outpace Huntsville moving forward as a desirable suburb to live in and commute to Huntsville jobs,” Realtor Matt Curtis said
