This Huntsville-based stock took a major hit

Gainers outnumbered decliners Monday on our Huntville and Alabama Stock Report, but the most gawdy numbers were definitely on the negative side.

Adtran, a Huntsville-based telecommunications equipment company, plummeted 19.2% to hit a 52-week low of $7.31 a share.

Community Health Systems experienced a 10.8% drop. The Franklin, Tennessee-based company has six locations in Alabama: Birmingham, Dothan, Enterprise, Foley, Gadsden and Huntsville.

Tyson Foods, on the heels of its plant closure announcement, fell 3.8%.

On the plus side, Carpenter Technology Corporation jumped 3.3%. It is a leading producer and distributor of premium specialty alloys, including titanium alloys, powder metals, stainless steels, alloy steels, and tool steels. The Philadelphia-based company has a major campus in Athens, Alabama, which is home to an advanced additive manufacturing facility and a research and development center.

Boeing increased 3%.
