This cheese being recalled for Listeria contamination

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has issued a recall of Hilltop Meadow Farm brand after it discovered Listeria.

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture has advices consumers to throw away the “60 Day Aged Pepper Jack Raw Milk Cheese” with sell-by dates of Sep. 21. The company has recalled the cheese after listeria was discovered after a Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture safety inspection.

Listeria is a bacteria often found in contaminated foods. Symptoms include fever, intense headaches, sickness and diarrhea, while infected pregnant women can have miscarriages and stillbirths.

“No reported illnesses have been attributed to the product,” according to the FDA report. People who consume the product and show signs of illness should immediately contact their physicians.

The tainted cheese is labeled with the words “Hilltop Meadow Farm” as well as “From A2/A2 Milk” and “Made from 100% Grassfed Cow’s Milk.”
