U.S. Steel, which says it is reviewing ‘numerous’ buyout offers, jumped 3.2%.

Medical Properties Trust shot up 3.1%, while Community Health Systems rose 3%.

Nucor was up 2.9% and Target had a gain of 2.2%.

Overall, technology companies led a broad stock market rally Tuesday after two economic reports raised hopes on Wall Street that the economy is cooling enough for the Federal Reserve to pause hiking interest rates.
