The Huntsville metro continues booming as thousands of people move to Madison and Limestone counties each year.

But where are they coming from? Neighboring states Tennessee, Florida and Georgia topped the list over the past couple of years, according to driver license transfer data from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. California and Texas also make the top 5, the data shows.

About 3,300 people transferred their licenses from Tennessee to the Huntsville metro between April 2022 and February 2024. During that same time, more than 2,900 transferred from Florida and about 2,000 transferred from Georgia, the data shows.
