These Alabama vehicles are the best made in America, website says
Three Honda vehicles made in Alabama have made the top 10 in Cars.com’s annual American-Made Index.
And other vehicles manufactured in Alabama also placed on the list, which ranks 100 models judged on assembly location, parts content, engine origin, transmission origin and U.S. manufacturing workforce.
A high ranking is not a new thing for Honda on the annual list, but the Japanese automaker tied with Tesla for most vehicles in the top 10, with three. Further, Honda led all automakers with nine Honda and Acura models in the top 20.
Tesla’s Model Y SUV topped the list. But Honda’s Passport SUV came in at No. 2.
It’s Odyssey minivan checked in at fifth, just ahead of the Ridgeline pickup at sixth. The Pilot SUV placed 14th. All four are manufactured at Honda’s Lincoln plant.
“Our success at Honda is powered by our associates and we are proud of the commitment to quality they bring each and every day to create outstanding, American-made products for our customers,” Bob Schwyn, senior vice president of Honda Development & Manufacturing of America said.
“We will continue investing in our associates and each Honda auto production facility in the U.S., sustaining production of our ICE and hybrid-electric vehicles to meet strong customer demand even as we accelerate preparation for EV production in Ohio in 2025.”
Other Alabama vehicles making the list were:
- Hyundai’s Santa Cruz pickup, made in Montgomery, at 38.
- The Hyundai Tuscon SUV, also from Montgomery, at 48.
- The Hyundai Santa Fe SUV at 61.
- Toyota’s Corolla Cross and Corolla Cross Hybrid, made in Huntsville, at 64 and 66, respectively.
- Hyundai’s Santa Fe Hybrid at 68.
- The Mazda CX-50, made in Huntsville, at 82.
- Mercedes-Benz’s GLS, EQE SUV, and GLE SUVs, made in Tuscaloosa, came in at 97, 98 and 99.
