These 25 states are sending the most people to Alabama
More Americans moved between states in 2022, making up the largest share of movers, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. And most of them moved to the South.
Supporting this trend, United Van Lines reported that among Southeastern states, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Alabama saw the most inbound moves.
Stacker compiled a list of states that send the most people to Alabama. They used data from the American Community Survey to rank the number of people who moved to Alabama from another state in 2022.
The South continues to drive the nation’s population growth from July 2022 to July 2023. The region added over 1.4 million residents, accounting for 87% of the population growth in 2023.
Western states added 137,299 people. The Midwest is still recovering from two consecutive years of population decline, while the Northeast saw a decrease of 43,330 in 2023.
