Thereâs $110 million in new construction in the Huntsville area. Here are some of the projects
The temperature isn’t the only thing heating up as the calendar flipped to June.
Last week turned out to be one of the busiest of the year in Madison, Morgan and Limestone counties in terms of new commercial and residential construction. According to Southern Exposure Information, 246 building permits were issued last week, topping $110 million.
The largest project during the week was work on an apartment complex in northwest Huntsville, where construction topped $31 million. And work on a manufacturing facility in Athens totaled more than $7 million.
Huntsville issued 79 permits totaling $49 million during the week. Athens issued 108 permits for almost $37 million. Madison County issued 37 permits for projects totaling $11 million. Madison issued 15 permits totaling $10.3 million. Decatur issued 11 permits totaling $2.3 million.
In Huntsville, three permits were issued for apartment buildings valued at $10.4 million each at 536 Johns Road Northwest, which is near the intersection with Plummer Road. The permits were issued to L.R. Huntsville, with Mission Construction as the builder.
The permits were labeled “Johns Landing.”
