There could be a few severe storms this week in Alabama
Rain chances are expected to climb starting today across Alabama, and on and off showers and storms will be possible through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Parts of south and east Alabama are expected to get the most rain, with up to 4 inches expected in some areas through noon Wednesday.
The National Weather Service said the heaviest rain will likely come on Tuesday.
A risk for a few strong to severe storms has also been added to the forecast for Tuesday.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has included parts of south and east Alabama in a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather on Tuesday.
A Level 1 risk means that isolated severe storms will be possible. Here’s the severe weather outlook for Tuesday:

The National Weather Service said the strongest storms could produce a tornado or damaging wind gusts as high as 60 mph.
According to the weather service the most likely time for stronger storms on Tuesday will be from the late morning into the afternoon hours.
A cold front is expected to sweep through Alabama starting in the northwest on Tuesday, and the rain is expected to end from northwest to southeast. The rain should be out of the state by Wednesday afternoon.
Another shot of cold air will arrive after the rain moves out starting on Wednesday, and a widespread freeze is forecast Thursday and Friday mornings, according to the weather service.
