The receiver spot for Alabama football has some of the most notable guys on the roster. That starts with Ryan Williams.

It extends as well to Germie Bernard, a returning starter, and Isaiah Horton, a prized transfer portal addition from Miami. Even though there are plenty of notable players, there’s more to the group.

“We have a lot of secret gems,” Williams said on Alabama’s offseason show called the Bama Standard. “Some guys on offense like a Jalen Hale.”

That’s as specific as Williams got. But Bernard brought up one group.

“During the spring, the freshman really showed they can come in and they can have an impact,” Bernard said. “We’ve just got to keep being there for those guys and coaching them up and make sure they’re ready when the time comes.”

Hale didn’t play in 2024 after he sustained a significant injury, but he caught five receptions for 148 yards and one touchdown during his freshman season in 2023.

Other names on the list of “secret gems” could include the likes of returners such as Rico Scott, Jaylen Mbakwe and Cole Adams as well as freshmen Lotzeir Brooks and Derek Meadows.

“With the offense that we have and the players that we have,” Bernard said, “man it’s going to be really explosive.”
