The time Miss Terry told Finebaum his argument with Saban was best thing for both men
Paul Finebaum revealed Tuesday that one of Nick Saban’s more public disagreements with the SEC Network analyst was a win for both of them, according to Miss Terry.
Finebaum, who appeared on AL.com’s Beat Everyone podcast, revealed saw the positive come out of a disagreement the two men had over Saban’s handling of then-Alabama star Cam Robinson while live on the SEC Network set during the 2016 SEC Media Days.
The exchange continued into the commercial break in a ballroom full of reporters covering SEC Media Days.
Saban launched into a four-letter tirade directed at Finebaum. In it, he used his fingers to note the small amount of marijuana found in the car and insinuated the arresting officers were disgruntled LSU fans.
“Terry Saban, in fact, told me when I ran into her at a restaurant a couple of months later … that it was the best thing to happen to both of us,” he shared on the “Beat Everyone” podcast. “‘You were able to show you’re not afraid of him. You would challenge, and he got to show he will stand up for his players.’”
The revelation was made known when Finebaum was asked his relationship with the former Alabama coach, which he described as “good, but, clearly, as you know, it’s been tested.”
