The Most Stylish NFL Player? Eagles’ DeVonta Smith

The Most Stylish NFL Player is Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith, and the former Alabama All-American is not surprised by the accolade.

“I expected that,” Smith said on Tuesday. “The suits speak for theirself. I put it on for a reason.”

Smith owes his title to an online fan vote in GQ’s Most Stylish Player tournament. Smith outpaced New York Jets linebacker Kwon Alexander, a former Oxford High School star, in the first round, New York Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor in the second round, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce in the semifinals and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs in the championship round.

Smith traces his love of style and fashion to football.

“High school, we had to wear suit-and-tie on game day and things like that, so I was always into it,” Smith said. “College, you had to wear the suit, and now I just want to stay with it, keep doing it. Something I can definitely put in my brand. I love it.”

The 16-player tournament included three other Alabama alumni.

Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II lost in the semifinals to Diggs after defeating San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud in the first round and Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb in the second round.

New York Giants safety Xavier McKinney lost to Kelce and Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry lost to Arizona Cardinals linebacker Isaiah Simmons in the first round.

Smith would like to beat Kelce again on Sunday. That’s when the Eagles and Chiefs will square off in Super Bowl LVII at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. FOX will televise the game at 5:30 p.m. CST.
