Texas woman killed in two-vehicle North Alabama crash Tuesday
A Grand Prairie, Texas woman died Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash that happened in Lawrence County.
Cpl. Reginal King of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the incident happened at about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday on Alabama 20 near the 55 mile marker, about two miles northwest of Hillsboro.
Bailey N. Kirton, 20, was a passenger in a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan, which was struck by a 2012 Kenworth tractor-trailer, driven by Lioandys M. Brito, 28, of Phoenix, Ariz.
After the initial crash, the Volkswagen left the roadway and overturned. Kirton and the driver of the Volkswagen, Christpher D. Kirton, 53, also of Grand Prairie, Texas, were both transported to Parkway Medical Center in Decatur.
Bailey Kirton died at the hospital from injuries, King said.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
