Texas A&’s Walter Nolen hits transfer portal, now top-ranked player available

It’s official. Texas A&M’s Walter Nolen entered the transfer portal on Wednesday, days after it was reported the defensive tackle would transfer.

Nolen, the 2022 No. 1 overall defensive recruit, played in 22 games in two seasons with the Aggies. In 12 games, Nolen totaled 37 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks.

He ranks as the No. 1 ranked player in the On3 Industry Rankings, per On3.

Nolen originally signed with A&M as a five-star prospect and No. 1 overall recruit in the 2022 recruiting class over Florida, Alabama, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee. He headlined the Aggies’ No. 1 recruiting class of 2022.

He announced he would enter the portal on Sunday shortly after defensive line coach and co-defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson was moving on to Syracuse, joining new Orange head coach Fran Brown.

Nolen is the fifth Texas A&M player to enter the transfer portal since coach Jimbo Fisher’s firing, joining quarterback Max Johnson, wide receiver Raymond Cottrell and offensive linemen Jordan Spasojevic-Moko and Remington Strickland.
