Tex-Mex restaurant chain announces bankruptcy, will close some locations
The central Florida-based restaurant chain Tijuana Flats has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and will be closing 11 of its restaurants, according to a release from the company.
USA TODAY reports one location in Virginia and 10 Florida locations were closed. Tijuana Flats said it will continue to provide full support to its franchisees and that its remaining locations will continue to operate as usual, according to USA TODAY.
Alabama has one location of Tijuana Flats in Mobile.
According to the press releases, Tijuana Flats has been acquired by a new ownership group, Flatheads, LLC.
“Our company is excited by the new ownership group’s plan to reinvest, focus, and emphasize the things that originally brought so many people to love Tijuana Flats,” said Joe Christina, the Chief Executive Officer of Tijuana Flats, in a press release. “We understand the immediate financial actions taken by them to ensure the long-term health of this great and iconic brand.”
