Tennessee’s John Campbell Jr. picked Vols, in part, because it has Waffle House

John Campbell Jr. transferred from Miami to Tennessee, in large part, because of Waffle House, he said.

“I wasn’t sure I’s like Tennessee,” he said. “I’m from Florida, coming to Tennessee, I thought it was going to be flat land here, like even when I was taking my (official visit). I don’t know, like, do I want to come out here and see it? I just went in and did it, came out here like, ‘It’s a city?’ It looked cool, you feel me? We ate some food. The food good, like they got Waffle House, that’s a place I like. At the U. there wasn’t really no Waffle House. It was like 40 minutes away. No, I really like it here.”

In January, Campbell, a 6-foot-5, 320-pounder from Orlando, picked the Vols over Florida, Florida State and Southern Cal.
