Tennessee’s Joe Milton steals show at Manning Passing Academy, launches 70-yard throw

Joe Milton left his mark on the Manning Passing Academy over the weekend.

The Tennessee quarterback uncorked a 70-yard pass – through the air – in front of a stadium full of campers Friday.

Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy noted on Twitter that Milton was one of only three quarterbacks to hit the deep golf cart in a skill passing competition.

“Goodness gracious,” shouted Cooper Manning, who was manning the mic during the skills challenge. Milton also unleashed a pass from the 35-yard line, which made it to the end zone.

“Holy cow,” Cooper said.

“I pull hard for him,” Peyton Manning told The Knoxville News Sentinel. “Boy, I’m really proud of him for coming in last year after Hendon (Hooker’s) injury and keeping things together in a great bowl win. A bowl win can do so much for a quarterback’s confidence, especially in his first year really as a starter. I can tell Joe is confident. I’m excited about him having a great senior year.”
