College Football Week 9 Tennessee vs. Kentucky odds and game preview
Kentucky rattled off five straight victories to start the 2023 season but has been lackluster as of late. The Wildcats dropped consecutive games to No. 1 Georgia and Missouri by double digits, and Devin Leary didn’t look like his usual dominant self in the losses.
Ray Davis has been Kentucky’s only consistent offensive weapon, with 974 yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns. Davis has the 12th-most rushing yards in FBS and ranks second in the SEC, trailing only Cody Schrader.
Tennessee is also vulnerable coming into the matchup after a devastating loss to No. 11 Alabama. The Volunteers led the Crimson Tide by 13 but surrendered 27 unanswered second-half points in the defeat.
Best Tennessee vs. Kentucky game props and odds: Tennessee -3.5 (-110 or better)
Leary is slumping right now, with 248 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions in Kentucky’s last two games. Struggling against Georgia isn’t shocking, but the NC State transfer failed to take advantage of a Missouri defense that ranks eighth in the SEC against the pass.
Things won’t get easier for Leary vs. a Tennessee team with the seventh-most sacks in FBS. The Wildcats defense has been subpar recently as well, allowing an average of 32 points in its last four games.
Expect Joe Milton and the Vols to be efficient in a Week 9 victory.
Best Tennessee vs. Kentucky player props and odds: Squirrel White under 62.5 receiving yards (-115 or better)
Tennessee’s leading receiver has had an up-and-down 2023 campaign. Squirrel White has gone over 100 yards twice this season but failed to surpass 50 yards in four games.
Squirrel’s receiving yards prop appears to be inflated, after posting his best stats of the season in Tennessee’s loss to Alabama. White caught 10 passes for 111 yards and scored his first touchdown of the year.
White’s inconsistent production makes betting the under on Squirrel’s receiving yards prop the safe play.
