Tennessee National Guardsmen killed in Alabama helicopter crash identified
One of the two crewmembers killed in a fiery Tennessee National Guard helicopter crash has been identified.
Alex Berta, a member of the Dover, Tenn. city council, said one of the fatalities was Daniel Wadham of Dover, Tenn.
“Daniel was the son of Tim Wadham. Daniel proudly served his country and was a devoted husband to Rosetta Wadham and a father to two amazing children,” Berta said in a Facebook post. “Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Wadham’s LinkedIn account lists him as an Aviation Safety Officer and Blackhawk helicopter pilot with 14 years of military experience. He had been a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard for nine years and is a former Metro Nashville policeman.
Wadham and another crew member were killed when their UH-60 Blackhawk Helicopter crashed near Highway 53 and Burwell Road in Huntsville around 3 p.m. Wednesday during a training mission for the Tennessee National Guard. The crash is being investigated by the Safety Investigation Team from the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center, headquartered at Fort Rucker.
