Teenage girl dies after being found unresponsive at Orlando theme park

A 13-year-old girl died at a hospital after being found unresponsive in a pool at an Orlando theme park, according to multiple media reports.

Deputies from the Orange County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office were called to the Discovery Cove theme park Tuesday morning after being notified of a girl found unresponsive in a pool at the park. The girl was transported to the hospital, but died a short time later, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

The girl was identified as 13-year-old Anna Beaumont. The Orange-Osceola Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the girl’s death an accidental drowning. No other details have been released and the incident remains under investigation.

Discovery Cove is owned and operated by United Parks & Resorts and is a sister park to SeaWorld Orlando and Aquatica Orlando. The park offers guests the opportunity to swim and interact with a variety of marine animals, including bottlenose dolphins.
