Teen to be charged with murder in fatal shooting of man, 63, at Mobile apartment complex, police say
A teenager is expected to be charged with murder and other offenses after Mobile police say a 63-year-old man he was fighting with was shot dead at an apartment complex Tuesday morning.
Xavier Dixon, 19, and Martyn Hands, 63, were involved in a confrontation at the 61 Ninety West Apartments around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, said Cpl. Katrina Frazier of Mobile police.
Officers who arrived at the apartment complex at 6190 Girby Rd. in Mobile found Hands suffering from multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle, Frazier said.
Hands suffered life-threatening injuries.
He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
Dixon surrendered to Mobile police, Frazier said late Tuesday afternoon.
The teen is expected to be charged with murder, shooting in an occupied vehicle and shooting into an occupied dwelling police said.
Further information was not released “to protect the integrity of the investigation,” Frazier said.
