Authorities have released the name of a teen killed in a Tuscaloosa crash.

Police identified the victim as Cianciolo Daniel Mauricico. He was 18.

The wreck happened Tuesday afternoon.

Tuscaloosa police officials said Mauricico’s Pontiac sedan was struck by an oncoming Ford F250 as he drove north from Second Avenue into the eastbound lanes of 15th Street.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.

Mauricico was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

TPD’s Traffic Homicide Unit responded and closed a portion of 15th Street for two and a half hours. Their investigation is ongoing.
