Atmore police are investigating a Tuesday morning shooting that left one teen dead, and another unidentified victim injured.

At around 1:50 a.m. officers responded to reports of gunshot victims at Atmore Community Hospital, according to a recent release.

Gabriel Hooks,17, had died due to his injuries, medical staff told police.

A second victim was flown to a trauma center, but their injuries appeared to be non-life threatening, according to the release.

Officers later learned the shooting occurred on Carver Avenue near 18th Avenue.

Investigators processed the crime scene and recovered dozens of spent shell casings, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.
