Teen in custody in connection with fatal Mobile shooting from March

An 18-year-old suspect has been detained Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old woman last month in Mobile, police said.

Jaymon Johnson, 18, is expected to be charged with murder and other offenses stemming from the March 30 shooting of Dajarra Jackson, 35, said Cpl. Katrina Frazier.

Johnson is expected to be taken to Mobile Metro Jail on Wednesday night, where he is expected to also be booked on first-degree assault, shooting into an unoccupied vehicle and three counts of reckless endangerment, said Frazier.

Jackson was found suffering from a single gunshot wound on the lawn of a residence in the 1000 block of Partidge Street around 6:19 p.m. March 30. She was transported to a local hospital and later died.

A 14-year-old male was also grazed by a bullet during the incident and was treated at the scene. In addition, an occupied vehicle was struck by gunfire, but no other injuries were reported.
