Teen dies in crash near Alexander City

A teenager died in a single-vehicle wreck near Alexander City on Friday after the vehicle left the road and struck an embankment, according to state troopers.

The 17-year-old victim was driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra when the crash occurred about 11:20 p.m. on Alabama Highway 22, about eight miles north of Alexander City in Tallapoosa County.

The teen was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, troopers said. The victim was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
