A teenager died Monday at UAB Hospital after being shot over the weekend in Phenix City.

The victim was identified as 18-year-old Darius Underwood, Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry told WRBL.

Underwood died late Monday morning of a gunshot wound, Sumbry said.

The teen’s body was being sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science for an autopsy.

Phenix City police and the coroner’s office are investigating the Sunday shooting.
