Teen charged with capital murder in fatal Montgomery shooting of 16-year-old boy, police say

A teenager is being held without bond on capital murder and other charges in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Montgomery over the summer that also injured another teen, police said Thursday.

Marquet Caldwell, 19, of Montgomery, was taken into custody Tuesday by Montgomery police and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force, said Maj. Saba Coleman.

Caldwell was identified as a suspect in the July 24th shooting of a 16-year-old boy, whose name was not publicly released.

The shooting, in the area of Hilldale Drive, also injured another 16-year-old victim, police said at the time.

Montgomery police charged Caldwell with two counts of capital murder and one count of attempted murder.
