Teen among 2 killed in south Alabama crash; 2 others injured

A single-vehicle crash in south Alabama left two people dead – including a young teen – and two others injured.

Alabama State Troopers identified the one of the fatality victims as Nidal Abdel Hafiz Yuniz. He was 54 and lived in Dothan.

The other fatality victim was 13 years old. Troopers do not release the names of juveniles.

The crash happened at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 431, about five miles north of Abbeville in Henry County, said Senior Trooper Kendra McKinney.

Yunis was driving a 2021 Lincoln Navigator that left the road, struck an embankment and several trees, and then overturned.

The teen passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on the scene. Yunis was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Two other passengers, Arwa Felfel Yunis, 50, and Zeid Nidal Yunis, 20, also of Dothan, were injured and transported to an area hospital for medical treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
