Target recall: 5 million candles recalled due to laceration, burn hazards

Nearly 5 million candles sold exclusively at Target have been recalled over concerns the candle’s jar could crack or break during use, posing a risk for cuts or burns.

The recall covers some Threshold Glass Jar 5.5 ounce 1-wick, 14 ounce 3-wick and 20 ounce 3-wick candles in multiple scents. The recalled numbers are printed on the bottom of the glass jars. Scents including Apple Blossom, Breeze, Berry Lemonade and Melon, Coconut Sorbet, Red Mandarin and Guava, Charcoal and Black Teak, Ashwood and Palo Santo, Soft Cashmere and Lavender and Vanilla Bean and Amber have been recalled, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission.

Target has received 137 reports of the candle jars breaking or cracking during use with six injuries. The candles were sold at stores nationwide and online at www.target.com from August 2019 through March 2023 for between $3 and $20.

Customers are advised to stop using the candles immediately and return them to any Target store for a full refund.
