Target recall: 200,000 cans of Del Monte vegetables recalled over possible contamination

California-based Del Monte Foods, Inc. has recalled 8,242 cases of its Target brand Good & Gather Cut Green Beans because due to the potential they are contaminated with a foreign object.

The recall, which equates to 197,808 cans, was initiated on Feb. 12, 2025. On March 13, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a Class II recall notice.

The FDA defines a Class II recall as a “situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

The recalled Good & Gather Cut Green Beans came in 14.5 oz cans with a UPC number of 085239-11628 9. The Best if Used By date was Oct. 28, 2026. The lot number is 7AA 418507.

The beans were distributed at Target stores in 21 states, including Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

According to an announcement from the FDA, the recall is marked “ongoing,” and no further information is currently available on what the foreign material may be.
