Taco Bell has opened a new restaurant but the focus isn’t tacos

Taco Bell is testing a restaurant concept that showcases its popular drinks.

The Tex-Mex chain’s newest restaurant, the Live Más Café, celebrated its grand opening in San Diego on Dec. 9 and features a beverage-focused menu of Taco Bell’s specialty drinks including Coffee and Churro Chillers, agua frescas and specialty coffees, according to Nations Restaurant News. The restaurant also offers some of Taco Bell’s fan-favorite foods.

“Bellristas,” Taco Bell’s like spin on baristas, serve up drinks at the Live Mas Cafe. The restaurant, located at 1548 E. H Street in Chula Vista, Calif. is open from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily and has a drive-thru, reports CBS 8.

Taco Bell says Live Más Café is part of its plan to “disrupt the beverage industry.”

In a statement to TODAY.com, Taco Bell president Scott Mezvinsky said the new cafe concept is a way for the chain to elevate the customer experience.

“This innovative pilot concept is all about expanding the boundaries of what Taco Bell can be, creating a dynamic space where guests can experience our bold flavors in new and exciting ways,” said Mezvinsky.
